CSE Under 12's Screening Tool
If you have concerns about a child or young person is a victim of CSE then you should use a screening tool to help you make a professional judgement about the level of risk and response required.
Solihull have developed the Petch screening tool specifically for use with children under the age of 12.
We recognise the importance of sharing developments that have been made in Solihull widely. There is a moral imperative to do so as we know that it provides an effective supportive framework to help professionals to identify and safeguard children under the age of 12 who are vulnerable to child sexual exploitation. The potential to keep children safe is significant. We invite other Councils and LSCBs to adopt the Petch Screening Tool and to fully embed it within their safeguarding procedures. We have created an external version to help you with this, providing blank spaces for you to include your local safeguarding information and links to your local procedures.
We expect any area using this to retain the name of the screening tool and to fully retain the integrity of Solihull’s original work. Thank you.
We would be very interested in hearing about the impact of using the Petch Screening tool in your locality, as part of the ongoing evaluation. Please email any evaluative information to firstname.lastname@example.org
